What a fun idea!! :) One of my favorite posts was the one you did over the summer "Anticipation" (http://brooklyn852.blogspot.com/2010/07/anticipation.html). I've always been a person who tries to "look on the bright side" of things, but in April of 2006 when we got our daughter's diagnosis of several neurological disorders I suddenly felt like my whole world had come crashing down. I didn't know who to turn to for advice, guidance, support, resources...anything! Obviously I knew God was my ultimate source of strength, but I was so desperately searching for tangible resources to help me understand how best to help Peyton. Over the years the Lord has taught me to once again, to be eager in anticipation for the miraculous things He's going to do in our family and through Peyton!! And through all of this, He's given me a real heart to reach out to other families who are where I was a few years back. I've been overjoyed to be that "resource" so many families are searching for. Once again, God's plan is playing out and I'm blessed enough to be right in the middle of it praising Him!! :)

ReplyDeleteWhen you wrote this particular blog, and even today when I re-read it, I am reminded so much of the temporary nature of our life here on earth. Besides the fact that you quoted my favorite book of the Bible, I am very grateful for the reminder of the forward motion faith requires of us and the way we are to view every day from an eternal perspective and not just "stop" but keep going. I love you.

ReplyDeleteI read through some blog posts and I really liked, among many, "A Quiet Joy" from September 21, 2010. It gives your backstory, you connect with your audience, and remind us of God's faithfullness. I also liked "Total Restoration in Process," and one I can't find where you talk about drowning in character development--that made me laugh out loud when I read it the first time.
All that aside, I think you need to have a whole section on grief and loss. That's a major theme of your life and your blog and you have some deep thoughts and experiences around it that others who have been on this journey will be encouaraged to hear. I would pick out those that tell of the pain of the loss of Julie and your mom, but also posts that tell of the loving kindness of the Lord like your latest, "Deep Love, Deep Hurt." God bless you with his wisdom and confort as you celebrate your walk with the Lord making this book!
